Chaos

Giclèe on canvas 90x60cm

Currently the word “chaos” takes the meaning of disorder. But the greek word Chaos means “space gaping”, “chasm”, “ravine”, so abyss where there is darkness. It appears in mythology the personification of the primordial state of “emptiness”, the darkness that was there before the generation of the cosmos from which emerged the gods and men. The Hesiod’s “chaos” isn’t the principle of all things (Thales), but it’s the origin of things that were not, eternal entity that does not exist from eternity. For the Egyptians, the Chaos, as an abstract concept, was associated with determinism in the case, before the creation of the world and it results from the competition of more intertwined theories from different times and locations.
